Our annual meeting is the major event of the year, with 100-125 people in attendance. Members and guests are encouraged to bring their spouses. Invited guests are from regulatory agencies, other associations, academia, as well as retired members.
The meeting is held in early June at various locations, usually resort hotels. We try to stay within comfortable driving distances and within New York State; e.g. Lake Placid, Saratoga Springs, Cooperstown, Alexandria Bay. If you know of a great hotel that might be appropriate for a future meeting, please let us know.
We have an early arrival package including a group cocktail party, dinner, entertainment on Saturday, and a brunch on Sunday. Sunday afternoon we have a reception in the President's Suite for new members, their recruiters, board members, and spouses. Sunday evening is a cocktail party and theme dinner. Your recruiter will introduce you to the membership at this dinner and you receive your membership pin at that time.
On Monday morning the Processors
have their Annual Meeting at breakfast. There is a speaking program which your Convention Committee tries to keep the interest of suppliers as well as processors. Monday afternoon is a golf tournament with box lunch. A group lunch and tour or other activity are planned for non-golfers. Monday evening, we sometimes have an exhibit during the cocktail party which is sponsored by the Food Processors' Affiliates. This is followed by a banquet dinner with golf and raffle prizes to be awarded. This is the final event of the program. The headquarters hotel usually includes all meals. When possible, we offer an alternate hotel with rooms only. If you choose to stay at the alternate hotel, you will need to reserve any group meals that you wish to attend, in advance.
